Company’s New Thermally Broken Steel Doors
Recognized for Performance and Design Enhancements

Door and Window Market [DWM] magazine, a business-to-business publication that’s devoted exclusively to the coverage of the door and window industries, recently recognized six companies with its prestigious Annual Green Awards. Each year, the magazine’s editors conduct extensive research to gather and compare info for companies, brands, products and individuals striving to make a difference through sustainability. After careful analysis, the magazine’s editors chose to recognize Houston, Texas-based GlassCraft Door Co. for products that generated stand-out interest and performance improvements—new, thermally broken steel entry doors. The company’s Buffalo Forge ThermaPremium and ThermaPlus entry doors were recognized for making environmentally safe enhancements to its finishing process of the material.

As steel continues to hold down more than half of market share among entry doors, GlassCraft’s new doors, “feature thermal breaks in their frames, via the jamb legs and headers, and glass—including decorative options,” the magazine’s editors point out.

The products also include composite materials on all four edges and an Endura (composite) threshold. “The end result is a door that avoids thermal bridging to prevent heat loss and gain, as well as the issues of frosting and condensation,” editors suggest.

“The International Builders Show is one of the industry’s biggest events. To generate a buzz at that show is a major accomplishment, and GlassCraft managed to do just that in 2019,” says [DWM] editor Drew Vass. “The product grabbed our attention and we began our research right then and there—gathering info and interviewing attendees and builders for their input. That research continued throughout the year, eventually making it obvious that this product was award worthy.”

GlassCraft will be featured in [DWM]’s November-December issue and given a special 2019 Green Awards commemorative plaque to display in its corporate offices.
